That could produce a cleaner macro signal, but it could also make sudden market stress more visible.

The likely short-term market effect is neutral to mildly supportive. Investors may interpret depleted RRP usage as evidence that the most disruptive portion of QT is behind them. Growth equities, long-duration assets, bitcoin, and high-beta tokens could respond positively if rate-cut expectations strengthen. Yet this reaction is conditional. If inflation remains above target or Treasury issuance pushes long-term yields higher, the RRP milestone will not rescue expensive assets from a repricing.

The ten-year yield is less sensitive to the RRP balance and more sensitive to inflation expectations, fiscal supply, term premium, and growth. A steepening yield curve would not automatically mean a clean risk-on environment. It could reflect falling short rates alongside rising long-term borrowing costs.

The dollar presents the same mixed picture. High policy rates and continued QT can support the dollar in the near term. Expectations of rate cuts can weaken it later. A dollar below an index level near 100 would be consistent with more aggressive easing expectations, but the foreign-exchange reaction will depend on relative growth and policy decisions outside the United States.
